First election Hustings meeting tonight

​Islanders will be questioning election candidates at the first Senatorial hustings meeting tonight.

Hustings meetings will be held across the Island over the coming weeks to give candidates who are standing for election as Senator, Deputy and Constable an opportunity to face questions from the electorate.

All of the hustings meetings will be filmed and made available to view online at vote.je, where there is also a list of all of the hustings dates. The vote.je website provides information to the public about the elections and is independently managed by the States Greffe on behalf of the Privileges and Procedures Committee.

Deputy Greffier Lisa Hart said: “This will allow all Islanders to watch the hustings and find out more about the candidates’ views, even if they are unable to go along in person. We filmed the hustings for the first time during the 2014 elections and they proved really popular.”
