John Le Fondre elected as Chief Minister Designate

Senator John Le Fondré has been elected by the States Assembly as Chief Minister Designate.

Senator Le Fondré stood against former Chief Minister Senator Ian Gorst for the role and was elected by 30 votes to 19 when members voted today (Monday 4th June 2018).

Prior to the election, both candidates published policy statements, made a speech in the States Chamber and faced an hour of questioning from States Members. Deputy Le Fondré will take up the position of Chief Minister once his team of Ministers have been appointed at the end of this week.
