Panel respond to Department's shopping survey

27th September 2018

Yesterday, the Minister for Economic Development, Tourism, Sport and Culture announced that consumers would be asked to give their views on shopping in Jersey as part of research that will help shape the direction of Jersey's retail sector.

In response to the news, Deputy Kirsten Morel, Chair of the Economic Affairs Scrutiny Panel, says, "The commissioning of a customer survey is fantastic news. The Economic Affairs Scrutiny Panel has already heard first-hand, how there is currently very little data with which to measure the retail sector's performance and changing customer preferences.  This survey is a great first step towards us developing a real understanding of our own consumer behaviour and shows what can happen when, as an island, we focus on an issue with a real desire to improve upon the current situation."
