Logo Design Competition for Jersey Youth Connect Launched

11th August 2020

Young people of Jersey are being invited to design a logo for Jersey’s Youth Parliament which is currently under development.

The newly formed youth parliament will be called Jersey Youth Connect and is aimed at giving young people in Jersey a voice. Members of the youth parliament will also have the opportunity to campaign on issues and raise propositions about matters that affect children and young people.

The logo design competition for Jersey Youth Connect will run until 31 of August and is open to anyone in Jersey aged 18 years or under. A shortlist will be chosen by the youth ambassador and young workers group before a final vote on social media to choose the winning logo.

Winners of the competition will see their design used for Jersey Youth Connect and in all future publicity. The designer of the chosen logo will also win a paddle board tour for themselves and 5 friends or family members with qualified instructors.

The design can be drawn, painted or digitally designed and can include the words Youth Connect, but it is not a requirement.

Entries to the design contest can be emailed to youthconnect@jys.je or sent to Youth Connect, St James Centre, St Helier, JE2 3QZ by 31 August 2020.

Children’s Minister Senator Sam Mézec said: “I am delighted that we are a step closer to launching Jersey’s Youth Parliament. Putting Children First is the ambition of the Children and Young People’s Plan that children and young people should be heard, valued and involved in the decisions that affect their everyday lives, regardless of where they live or the school they go to. Only by listening to children’s experiences of growing up in Jersey will their achievements and challenges be understood.”

It is hoped Jersey Youth Connect will be launched in March 2021. More information on how to get involved with follow.
