COVID-19 Response - Children, Education and Home Affairs Scrutiny Panel

Scrutiny review - Children, Education & Home Affairs Panel

Launch date: 20/03/2020

Review status: Discontinued

What is the review about?

The Panel has maintained a watching brief on the Government's response to the COVID-19 pandemic. In particular the Panel will focussed on the response of the Minister for Children and Education and Minister for Home Affairs (and formerly Minister for Education and Minister for Children and Housing)

Review progress

The Panel has maintained correspondence with the two Minister's within its remit since the outbreak of the pandemic and raisedquestions in relation to key matters as they arose. Due to the ongoing nature of the pandemic and the gradual relaxation of measures during 2022 the Scrutiny Liaison Committee agreed that each Panel should review the response of the Minister's under their remit alongside business as usual work. As such, this specific review has been discontinued. However, the Panel has undertaken a review specifically examining the impact of the pandemic response on children and young people. Details of the progress of that review can be accessed here.
