Jersey Music Service

Scrutiny review - Children, Education & Home Affairs Panel

Launch date: 18/04/2013

Review status: Comments published

What is the review about?

The Minister claims in his proposition (P.36/2013) that the introduction of charges is not simply about saving £200,000 in his budget to contribute towards CSR targets but is also an opportunity to refresh the service, to reach more people and provide more services. It is claimed that the service is currently limited by having a fixed annual budget and is unable to develop and expand to meet the demand from students for instrumental tuition. With a new funding stream the service will be able to offer a wider range of instruments to students and provide greater support to schools.

The Panel wishes to test the evidence for these claims.
