Information for Commonwealth Youth Parliament delegates

Accommodation

The Jersey branch will make all necessary accommodation arrangements for each participating Youth Parliamentarian and mentor.  Almost all conference participants will be staying at the Pomme d'Or Hotel in St. Helier which is a short walk from the States Assembly. Some participants will be accommodated in the Royal Yacht Hotel which is opposite the Pomme d’Or.

Meals

Most meals will be provided during the programme. You must notify the conference organisers at the time of registration if you have any special dietary needs.

Transport

Return transport to and from Jersey Airport, and any necessary local transport in Jersey as part of the programme, is provided. There are several flights each day between Jersey and London Gatwick and other UK airports.

Dress code

All Youth Parliamentarians are expected to dress in business attire or national dress for the programme. This includes a jacket, shirt and tie for men.

Weather

In late February the daytime temperature is likely to be around 12˚C or colder. Wind and rain are also possible so warm clothing, including raincoats and umbrellas, is essential.

Visa requirements

Jersey is part of the British Isles' common travel area. There are no immigration controls between the UK and Jersey. Photo ID is often required by airlines flying into Jersey.

You can check visa and passport requirements for visiting Jersey on gov.je.  If you are travelling from outside the UK, check whether you require a visa on the gov.uk website.

Insurance

Youth Parliamentarians and mentors must arrange their own medical and travel insurance. 

Jersey has health agreements with a number of different countries. These agreements provide some free health care, or health care at a lower cost, if you are taken ill while on holiday. Only urgent treatment will be provided. You are therefore strongly advised to ensure you have insurance in place.
