States Assembly decisions on 26th March 2019

27th March 2019

The States appointed Constable Mike Jackson of St. Brelade as a member of the Law Revision Board during the States sitting yesterday (Tuesday 26th March 2019).

The Board meets to approve the Revised Editions of the Laws of Jersey, which updates Jersey’s legislation on an annual basis every April. It agrees that the annual updates prepared by the Law Draftsman’s Office are ready to be brought into force and Constable Jackson is one of two States members who sit on the Board (P.19/2019).

During the meeting yesterday, the States also adopted Regulations which will make sure Orders relating to the provision of geographical indications in relation to wines and spirits, and the continued implementation of European food hygiene requirements in respect of milk and dairies, will continue to apply after Brexit (P.14/2019). They also agreed various amendments to financial services laws (P.15/2019) to ensure that Jersey’s alternative investment funds legislation is ready in the case of a ‘no deal’ Brexit and Regulations which would ensure the Restriction on Smoking (Warning Notices) (Jersey) Regulations 2011 would continue to operate effectively in the event of a ‘no deal’ Brexit (P.16/2019).

Read the decisions made by the States on Tuesday 26th March 2019.
