States Members asked the Minister for Children and Families, Connétable Richard Vibert; Minister for Education and Lifelong Learning, Deputy Rob Ward, and the Chief Minister, Deputy Lyndon Farnham, questions without notice for 15 minutes each.

Public Business 

 

The Minister for Treasury and Resources, Deputy Elaine Millar, proposed to amend the 2021 Regulations so that all the calendar dates included in the terms for payment of a deferred 2019 income tax liability were extended by 2 years. 

 

The States Assembly voted to APPROVE the Minister’s proposition.

The Minister for Treasury and Resources, Deputy Elaine Millar, proposed to re-appoint Carolyn Dwyer as a Non-Executive Director of the States of Jersey Development Company Limited for a further period of up to three years. 
 

The States Assembly voted to APPROVE the Minister’s proposition.

Deputy Lucy Stephenson proposed to request the Council of Ministers to commit to improving funding for In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF) treatment, removing the current means-tested model, and ensuring any new funding model reflects National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) clinical guidance, and to ensure that such funding is included within the Proposed Government Plan 2025-28. 

 

The Minister for Health and Social Services, Deputy Tom Binet, proposed an amendment to the proposition, so it reads “to request the Council of Ministers to commit to improving funding for In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF) treatment, replacing the current means-tested model, bringing forward new access criteria that accord with good clinical standards and which has been subject to consultation, and ensuring that such funding is included within the Proposed Government Plan 2025-28".

The States Assembly voted to APPROVE Deputy Tom Binet’s amendment to the proposition, with 28 votes for, 15 votes against, and 1 abstention. 

The States Assembly voted to APPROVE Deputy Lucy Stephenson’s proposition, as amended, with 44 votes for, 1 vote against, and 1X abstention.

The States Meeting then adjourned and will recommence on 9th May for the special Liberation Day meeting, with a scheduled meeting for States business on 21 May.
