States Assembly Social Media Community Rules
The States Assembly social media channels promote the work of the Assembly and raise awareness about issues and laws being debated and scrutinised, to help Islanders connect with Jersey’s elected parliament.
The Social Media Community Rules apply to all States Assembly channels including; Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and YouTube to ensure that our social media community is a safe, friendly and open space for all Islanders.
Social media users are requested to comply with the following guidelines and rules.
We encourage Islanders to:
- Share their views and relevant thoughts about the subject area / topic in the post
- Read these rules carefully and accept them before participating
General guidelines
- We appreciate that opinions differ, but we ask that you are considerate and polite when commenting
- Think before you post! Remember your comments are open for others to see, so be mindful of what you say. Ask yourself, would you say this in real life to a person?
- Be courteous and respectful when sharing your opinions, be aware of the words you choose
We do not tolerate any disrespectful discussion, specifically:
- Do not use any swear words in your comments
- Do not share comments that are unlawful, abusive, violent, sexual, racist, harassing, or indecent towards any individual or group
- Do not make discriminatory comments based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sexuality, sex, gender, age or disability
- Do not make defamatory comments or untrue statements that could damage the reputation of a States Member or Islander
- Do not make comments that are not relevant to the topics raised on the page such as the promotion of any services or pages
- Do not make comments that contain personal information without permission (names, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses)
- Do not make or use profiles that are impersonating someone else or share comments from fake accounts
- Do not advertise any products and / or services
- Do not make or share content that is designed to mislead and is not factual
The States Greffe team actively monitors the social media channels. If there are any comments that are in breach of these rules, the consequences and actions may include:
Hiding and/or deleting your comment
Reporting your comment to the social media platform officials for breaking community standards
Blocking users temporarily and / or permanently from accessing the page
Reporting you to the States of Jersey Police for investigation
These guidelines and rules are in place to protect all page users and ensure that all interactions are respectful.
